North Devon Economic Partnership
Making North West Devon the best place to live and work in the world thats the name and the aim of a new strategy for the sustainable economic regeneration of the area, that puts the environment at the heart of business development.
The draft vision strategy, launched in June 2004, makes the environment, North Devons best asset, the key economic driver for regeneration, and uses the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Braunton Burrows as the catalyst for change. The new strategy fits well with those from the Regional Development Agency and Devon County Council, and will put the area in a strong position to take advantage of the remaining Objective 2 money, the new Rural Renaissance funds and the next stage of the various Market and Coastal Towns initiatives.
Action Plan 2020: Consultation and feedback following the launch of the Draft Vision Strategy in June 2004 have helped the Economic Partnership write the Action Plan 2020 the document that will help to put the strategy into action.
Purpose of the Action Plan:
- To identify a bold vision and prioritise objectives for the NDEP and other partners within the North and West Devon areas.
- To pinpoint actions that will make a real economic difference to the area, which are achievable yet visionary and illustrate a new way of working. Ideas must not be stifled just because they challenge the traditional values of the area. We must celebrate our regional distinctiveness but embrace new philosophies and opportunities.
The action plan covers North Devon, Torridge and the adjoining areas of West Devon.
